US DOT: Companies that operate commercial vehicles transporting passengers or hauling cargo in interstate commerce must be registered with the FMCSA and must have a USDOT Number.

MC Numbers (Operating Authority): In general, companies that do the following are required to have an interstate Operating Authority (MC number) in addition to a DOT number.

UCR (Unified Carrier Registration): Unified Carrier Registration, established by the UCR Act in 2005, is a federally-mandated registration required for motor carriers involved in interstate commerce.

BOC-3 Filing: A BOC-3 filing (“Designation of Agents for Service of Process”) is a federally required filing for motor carriers.
*Commercial Auto Insurance is also required to activate operating authority. However, our company is not an insurance carrier or agency.
